The Customer – Oncology Departments

Formech have over 40 Clinica vacuum forming machines operating in Oncology Departments throughout the UK. Radiotherapy treatment involves the precise positioning of the beams of radiation, It is vital that the patient is keep still during this treatment especially important when working on areas around the head. Using the Clinic 660 vacuum forming machine the mould room technicians can form an immobilisation mask from clear 3mm PETG plastic. The mask is made after an impression of the patient has been made using plaster of paris.

The Challenge

To design a machine to meet the requirements within a medical environment that is simple to use and is available with a number of bespoke feature which include, special filters, power table option, reducing window and increase depth o draw etc.

Working with a number of hospitals Formech designed a machine that met all the requirements for to day's medial needs. Care was taken to understand the options needed to produce the best machine within a budget. It was also recognised that most departments were operating large and very old machinery which was difficult to repair or dispose of. Formech offer a free collection service to dispose of all old equipment. Formech also work hard to minimise any down time during the decommissioning of old equipment through to the installation and training of the new machine.
